Real Happiness
an Interview with Paul Ferrini

Question: Many of your books have been translated into Dutch and published in Holland. What is your latest book and what is it about?

Paul Ferrini: My latest book is entitled Real Happiness. It presents a Roadmap for Healing and Transformation that will help people step into their power and purpose here on the planet.

Question: Will you talk about this book in your lecture in Holland on May 9, 2008?

Paul Ferrini: Yes. I will introduce the Roadmap for Healing and Transformation and give people an idea of the life-changing experiential work that I have been developing during the last three years and will be presenting during the weekend workshop I am giving in Holland.

Question: What is your background and where are you now?

Paul Ferrini: I have written some 40 books now on Love, Healing and Forgiveness and have taught spiritual workshops and retreats for thirty years.   This experience has taught me what is necessary to bring about a real, lasting change in a person’s consciousness and experience.  The Real Happiness Workshop condenses the work of 30 years into a weekend workshop that can change people's lives.

Question: Can you tell us a little about what Real Happiness is and if it is possible for all of us?

Paul Ferrini: Sure.  Real Happiness is not about the outer shell, image or mask, but about the inner core.  It is not about how good we look to others, or about our ability to please them and get their approval.  It is about how we feel about ourselves in our hearts.
     In other words, happiness is an internal state not an external condition. It is not about surface things like money, lifestyle, possessions, role or image.  It is not about what we do or what we have, but about who we are and how we feel about ourselves.
       And yes, Real happiness is possible for all of us. There is no defect or deficiency in us that prevents us from being happy.  However, there are false beliefs that need to be challenged and hurts that need to be healed so that we can open our hearts fully to love and to life.

Question: What will people learn from your Real Happiness Work?

Paul Ferrini:  Just imagine what your life would be like if you believed in yourself and knew you had a gift to share; you could move forward with your dreams instead of questioning them; you could face life problems without fear; you loved yourself no matter what happened!
     The Real Happiness work helps us heal our deepest wounds and establish a solid connection with our True Self. It shows us how to stand in our strength, attract honest, fulfilling relationships, and create meaningful work that expresses our true talents and gifts.

Question: Can we ever find Real Happiness with others?

 Yes, but  Real Happiness doesn't start with others. It starts with our relationship with ourselves.  It requires that we accept ourselves radically. It requires that we take others off the hook and begin to take responsibility for loving ourselves.  Once we learn to do that, it is not hard to love and accept others.   

Question: What spiritual work do we need to do to be really happy?

Paul Ferrini: To be really happy, we need to learn to love and accept ourselves unconditionally. We need to move through our pain and heal our hurts and forgive ourselves and others for past trespass or injury. And, most importantly, we need to learn to take responsibility for what we think, feel, say and do and stop blaming others for our problems. That means that we have to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and living as a victim. 

Question: It sounds like a lot of work.

Paul Ferrini: Yes. The path of healing and empowerment is challenging, but it leads to real change and transformation.  On the other hand, the rocketship to heaven promises a quick journey, but it runs out of gas  all too quickly.  Those who are looking for a happiness pill that they can swallow are bound to be disappointed.  Every short cut I have seen people take leads to a cul-de-sac. In the end, we all have to come back and do the emotional healing work that will open our hearts to the presence of love.

Question:Does one have to be an advanced spiritual student to do the Real Happiness work?

Paul Ferrini: No. This work is for everyone who wants to heal. We are all in various stages of the healing and empowerment process. Yet all of us can heal more deeply and move into closer alignment with our spiritual purpose.  This is the goal of The Real Happiness Workshop. It helps us take the next step – whatever it is – on our healing journey.
