Working with People in Spiritual Crisis

As a psychotherapist, counselor, social worker, coach, minister or other human service professional you play a vital role in the transformation of consciousness on this planet. This Training will help you renew your life and your career and become a skilled guide for clients who are undergoing spiritual crisis.
You will learn a new paradigm approach to deep emotional healing that integrates the best of psychology and spirituality. In the process, you will deepen in your own healing, and be empowered to step more fully into your purpose as a helper, a healer, and an agent of spiritual transformation.
As a trainer and affiliated therapist, you will receive referrals from us and attract new clients in your home community.

The Need for Spiritual Therapists and Teachers

The world we live in is changing. Families are falling apart. Adults and their children are struggling. The old values and social structures that helped us make sense of the world and guided our decisions are no longer intact.
   People feel overwhelmed and confused. They live without passion or purpose, without goals or ideals to guide them. Many are self-medicating to get through the day. Some are giving up hope.
   If you are a human service professional you see this every day. This is a time of intense crisis for many people. Yet their challenge is not just a worldly one. It is not just that they need to learn to cope better or become more functional in their lives. Their lives don’t work anymore. Humpty dumpy has fallen off the wall and crashed on the floor. They have tried to pick up the pieces and glue them together, but they have realized that it is a futile task.
   Their old life has fallen apart. They are standing on a cliff, knowing that they cannot go back. They are afraid to jump, yet know that they have no choice.
   As a helper and a guide, you cannot just keep pushing people away from the cliff. They have come to the cliff because they are ready to make a leap of faith. If you have made that leap in your own life, you will not be intimidated by their fear and despair. You will not be triggered by their brokenness.
   You will understand that they have come to the key moment in their lives when they are ready to stop being victims, take their power back and begin living honestly and authentically. You will also understand that the process of letting go of limiting beliefs, roles and support mechanisms can often be disorienting and scary.
   If you went through this process by yourself you know how difficult it is to take the journey alone. You know how helpful it would have been if someone had been able to give you a roadmap to guide you through the process.

The Roadmap to Real Happiness

During the last 30 years as a spiritual teacher and counselor, I have come to understand how real change happens for people. That understanding has given birth to my Real Happiness Workshop and the Training Program for Teachers and Counselors.
   A major part of the workshop and the training is the Roadmap for psychological integration and spiritual transformation. This Roadmap guides us through the dark night of the soul when we are experiencing psychological pain and disorientation and our lives seem to be falling apart. It helps us relinquish what is false in our lives and embrace what is true. It helps us connect to our source, our higher power, our Core Self – call it what you will.
   With the help of the Roadmap, along with wise direction and support from others who have been through the process of spiritual transformation, we are able to move more easily through the dark tunnel of our pain, our fear and our shame into the light of day. We are able to move from denial to acceptance, from victimhood to empowerment, from self betrayal to self actualization.
   It would be great if we could be born without pain and struggle. But pain is an inextricable part of the birthing experience. The more we resist the pain, the more intense it gets. The only way to end our pain is to move through it.
   One spiritual master told us, we have “to die and be reborn in order to enter the kingdom.” The death of the ego and the surrendering of control are essential steps in the process of spiritual transformation. The False Self must die for the True Self to be born.
   If any of this makes sense to you, then you know that as a therapist, a coach, a teacher or facilitator of healing you must walk your talk. If you haven’t taken the journey, you cannot talk about it. To help clients in spiritual crisis, you must weather the storm in your own life. The True Self must be born in you if you are to be a mid-wife to others.
   That is why I have designed this training program. It will help you deepen in your acceptance and love for yourself so that you can show up for others. It will help you embrace the light within so that it can shine out fully. It will empower you to live courageously in the truth of your heart so that you can be the voice in the wilderness, the guide who helps others cross the turgid waters when they are about to give up hope.

What will I learn and what will I teach others?

Like your clients and students, you will engage in a process of self-healing and empowerment that helps you to learn to

love and accept yourself unconditionally

move through your pain and heal your wounds and hurts
forgive yourself and others for past trespass/injury
take responsibility for what you think, feel, say and do
communicate honestly without blaming others
stand up for yourself without hurting others
drop your mask and embrace your True Self

hear, honor, and trust your inner guidance
create more fulfilling intimate relationships
create more fulfilling work that expresses your talents and gifts
help others heal and embrace their True Self

Time Frame: 18-24 Months

Program Costs

You are welcome to participate in your first training on a pay-as-you-go basis so that you can determine if the program is a good match for you. When we know of your interest, we will send you details about the next training.
Teacher/Therapist Certification will require your attendance at a minimum of three 2 day trainings and three 3/4 day retreats, as well as completion of the required teaching/counseling practicum. The costs will be approximately $4,000 plus travel expenses. If you already have retreat experience, the cost will be less. In addition, if you sponsor a training in your community, you can save substantially. Supervision costs will vary based on individual needs

What if I am not a Licensed Therapist or Counselor?

This training program does not train or license you to be a therapist or a counselor. It assumes that you already have the required training and licensure from your state to practice your profession.
On the other hand, if being licensed is not a concern, you can still work to become a spiritual mentor, coach or teacher. If you have some experience helping others, we would be happy to talk with you further about this.

How Do I Apply?

Let us know of your interest and we will send you an application form to fill out. A formal application must be submitted, along with a current resume, color photo, short biography, three references, and a non-refundable application fee of $49. Paul Ferrini personally reviews all applications.
We are looking for applicants who are committed to their own growth and transformation
and are actively involved helping others grow and heal.

General Program Requirements

Accepted candidates for certification are required to attend 3 Spiritual Mastery Retreats and 3
Teacher Training Sessions with Paul Ferrini during the first year of the program. These retreats/trainings are no longer than be 4-6 months apart.
After completing these requirements and demonstrating conceptual mastery of the material, program participants will be given Provisional Certification. This enables them to begin teaching the Real Happiness Workshop in their communities and (if licensed) to be listed on our website as an affiliated therapist.
Final Certification in the Real Happiness Work will be granted when Paul determines that the candidate demonstrates the capacity to teach the full workshop and model its principles. Certified Teachers/Therapists are given referrals and are recommended to potential workshop sponsors when Paul is not available to teach. They are part of a dynamic team of healers helping this work move forward all over the world.

Specific requirements for Provisional Certification

Attend at least 3 Trainings/Retreats with Paul Ferrini
Attend the Professional Support Teleconference
Demonstrate conceptual understanding by passing a general proficiency exam on each phase of the Real Happiness Material. Once you pass the exam on each phase, you may teach that phase.
Offer an Affinity Group at the local level
Participate in bi-weekly mentoring calls
Agree to use the Real Happiness Teaching Materials as intended and in a responsible manner.

Specific Requirements for Final Certification

Candidates for Certification must have Provisional Certification for all three Phases of
the Real Happiness Curriculum. In addition, they must meet the following requirements:

Attend 1 or 2 additional Trainings/Retreats with Paul Ferrini
Facilitate bi-weekly mentoring calls with 2 –3 new students
Keep a Teaching/Counseling Journal documenting your experiences
Teach at least one series of 6 Saturday Workshops, one on each Stage of the Roadmap

Teach at least 3 Full Weekend Workshops, one on each Phase of the Roadmap
Provide complete registration data and student evaluations as documentation
for all Real Happiness Workshops taught.
Request one-on-one mentoring as necessary with the Teacher Training Coordinators.
Fees for this additional service will be posted on the website.
Submit the within one year from the date of Provisional Certification:
1) Detailed facilitator workshop journal with an honest self evaluation of your
teaching performances, indicating areas where you feel improvement is necessary.
2) Recommendation for Certification from the Teacher Training Coordinators
3) Plans for teaching for the nest year, including a schedule of future Real Happiness
Workshops or speaking engagements that you have booked.
Most people can complete the full Teacher Certification process within 18 -24 months of entering the Teacher Training program. Once awarded, Teacher Certification must be renewed on a annual basis. Certified Teachers must provide evidence of recent teaching experience and show that they have obtained and are using the latest updates of the teaching materials.

Master Teacher Certification

To obtain the Master Teacher Certification, you must document three years of active teaching experience
facilitating Real Happiness Workshops. Paul Ferrini must have seen you teach the material at retreats and
trainings. You may also submit a video tape/DVD showing you teaching. This is important if you wish to
have us book you as a speaker or workshop facilitator when Paul is already booked for the dates requested.

Structures/Timeframes for the Real Happiness Work

Full Weekend Workshop (Friday – Sunday) 21 – 24 Hours One Phase is taught each Day.
This is the format most often used by Paul Ferrini and other Master Teachers of the Real Happiness Material. The tuition for this format is $360 per person. The cost of materials – and room, board and travel if applicable –would be additional.

Six Saturdays Sessions or Three Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) 36 Hours
(10:00 AM – 4:00 PM with lunch break). One Stage is taught each day.
This is the format most often used by Certified Teachers who offer the workshop at the local level. The cost is also $360 and is payable in 3 installments of $120 each (due on the first, third and fifth Saturdays). Material costs are additional, but there would be no additional expenses for room, board or long distance travel.

Twelve 3 hour Evening Sessions 36 Hours (7:00 --10:00 PM) One Step is taught each time.
This is the format most often used by Teachers in Training who offer the Curriculum as a 12-week study group. A free Introductory session is followed by 12 weekly sessions that are offered on a suggested love offering basis of $270 payable in 3 installments of $90 per phase. Material costs are additional.
